Granite is not only renowned for its versatility but has also established itself as an ideal material for large-scale infrastructure projects due to its incredible strength, durability, and ability to withstand intensive use. At Granilouro, we have years of experience working on major projects worldwide, leveraging these qualities to create spaces that require materials capable of enduring and standing the test of time.
The Strength of Granite: An Ally in Transportation Projects
One of the biggest challenges in transportation infrastructure is the need to withstand constant traffic from people and vehicles without compromising functionality or safety. That’s why at Granilouro, we’ve applied our granite to projects requiring maximum reliability, including metro stations, airport terminals, trams, and train stations.
1) Madrid Metro
Throughout our history, we’ve been involved in the renovation and construction of nearly 50 stations in the Madrid Metro.
In some cases, we’ve worked on the same stations twice, contributing granite to different phases of the project. From station entrances to flooring, access stairs, and platform edges with non-slip bands, we’ve ensured the durability needed for a mass transit system that serves millions of passengers daily.
2) Quito Metro
In 2019, Quito inaugurated its first metro line, a pioneering project in Ecuador. Acciona, the company responsible for the project, relied on our expertise, given our extensive experience in Madrid. For this ambitious undertaking, we supplied floors, platform curbs, stairs, and custom pieces made from Negro Angola, a granite known for its exceptional resilience.
3) Odense Light Rail
In Odense, Denmark, the tramway project, led by MUNCK, chose Granilouro for its raw materials. We provided platform curbs and tactile paving in Negro Angola, specifically designed to ensure accessibility and passenger safety.
Beyond Stations: Airports and International Terminals
Our expertise goes beyond urban transportation and airports. At Granilouro, we’ve made our mark on a wide range of public transportation and international infrastructure projects. From airport terminals in France, Spain, and Morocco to urban transport systems like trams, metros, and BHNS (Bus Rapid Transit), we’ve consistently delivered customized, durable solutions.
In Morocco, for instance, our granite can be found in two terminals of Casablanca Airport, where we provided curbs, pavements, and custom pieces designed to withstand the weight of luggage, the constant flow of passengers, and the demands of international transportation.
Additionally, we’ve contributed to notable projects such as:
- Helsinki trams, with platform edges, polished pavements, and tactile elements.
- BHNS and trams in Morocco, integrating solid trackside curbs and stairs.
- Metros and trams in France, designing platforms that combine versatility, safety, and durability.
- Chamartín Station, a project currently underway.
Airports and urban transportation systems require materials that meet the highest standards of strength and safety.
At Granilouro, we work closely with our partners to create unique, tailored solutions for each project, positioning ourselves as leaders in the use of granite for international infrastructure. Follow us on social media to stay updated with all our latest news. instagram – Facebook
